THE CUSTOMER-FIRST SALES ROUTE

Three lessons. One better conversation.

Good selling is not pressure. It is helping the right person understand a useful solution and decide what to do next.

  1. Find the real need
  2. Find the right customers
  3. Follow up with purpose
  4. Put it into practice

LESSON 01 · CUSTOMER DISCOVERY

Start with the problem, not your pitch

Before recommending a product or service, learn what the customer is trying to change. A useful first conversation gives the customer room to explain the problem, what they have tried, and what a good result would look like.

  • “What are you hoping to solve?”
  • “What have you tried so far?”
  • “What matters most when choosing a solution?”

Listen for the details behind the first request. Someone asking for a new website may really need more enquiries, easier bookings, or a clearer way to show their work. Repeat the need back in your own words and let them correct you.

Lesson 03 · Make the offer easy to understand

Connect your recommendation directly to what the customer told you. Explain what is included, what outcome it is designed to support, how long it takes, and what it costs. Keep the language concrete and avoid promising results you cannot control.

Try this: “You said customers often ask for prices after seeing your products. This package gives you a simple product page with prices and a WhatsApp enquiry button, so visitors can find the details and contact you in one place.”

Then check for understanding: “Does that match what you had in mind?” A clear offer makes it easier for a buyer to compare, ask questions, and make an informed decision.

Lesson 03 · Follow up with a helpful next step

Many buyers need time. Agree on when and how to reconnect, then send a brief message that makes the next action obvious. Refer to the customer’s goal, answer any open question, and offer a simple choice such as a call, a quote, or a product demonstration.

A follow-up should add clarity, not guilt. If the customer is not ready, ask when it would be useful to check back. If they decline, thank them and respect the decision.
